Complete Decoupling Limit of Ghost-free Massive Gravity

We present the complete form of the decoupling limit of ghost-free massive gravity with a Minkowski reference metric, including the full interactions of the helicity-1 and helicity-0 modes of the massive spin-2 field. While in the metric language the square root structure of the mass terms makes it difficult to find a simple way to write down the interactions, we show that using the vierbein formulation of massive gravity, including Stueckelberg fields for both diffeomorphism and local Lorentz symmetries, we can find an explicitly resummed expression for the helicity-1 field interactions. We clarify the equations of motion for the Lorentz Stueckelberg fields and how these generate the symmetric vierbein condition which guarantees equivalence between the vierbein and metric formulations of massive gravity.Comment: 20 pages, typos corrected, references adde

Effects of the composition of different farming substrates on some growth parameters of Gambeya lacourtiana De Wild in seedbed in north-eastern of GabonABSTRACTObjective: Knowledge in plant resources management in tropical rainfall area is still limited because of the great biological variability existing. A program of multiplication of wild species was undertaken in the northeastern of Gabon. The simplicity of the techniques and their low costs supported the production of thousands of seedlings. Our study integrates this project with a view to evaluate the effects of the composition of three farming substrates on some growth parameters of Gambeya lacourtiana De Wild (Sapotaceae) in seedbed.Methodology and Results: This experiment in polyethylene bags took place in 2010 at Ipassa (Gabon) based on natural conditions of lightness, temperature and relative humidity. Three substrates S1 (30% sand + 70% black soil), S2 (20% black soil + 70% sawdust +10% sand) and S3 (70% wood + 30% sand) were used as culture media. After manual preparation of substrate, bags filled were placed according to a complete with twenty (20) repetitions. Results show that the substrate S1 was found to induce the best increase of planlets. The chemical composition of the S3 substrate appeared to be harmful on the growth of the plantlets. The presence of sawdust in the S2 substrate was ineffective for the germination of seeds, but this substrate gave suitable performances on the longitudinal growth of the seedlings. Conclusion and Application: Organic matter is more required for the growing of plantlets of G. lacourtiana while a substrate composed by sand and black soil is efficient for the seedlings germination.Key-words: vegetative multiplication, farming substrate, growth parameters, Gambeya lacourtiana, Gabon

Systematic Literature Review of Quetiapine for the Treatment of Psychosis in Patients With Parkinsonism

Objective: The purpose of this article was to determine the efficacy and tolerability of quetiapine compared with placebo or other interventions for psychosis in parkinsonism. Methods: Participants with a diagnosis of parkinsonism participated in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the efficacy and tolerability of quetiapine for psychotic symptoms within a defined follow-up period. The authors conducted searches on PubMed, Cochrane Controlled Register of Trials, and EMBASE for articles published from January 1991 to October 2017. Study methodology and patient- and treatment-level data were independently extracted and summarized by using descriptive statistics. Studies underwent quality assessment for risk of bias. Results: A total of 17,615 unique records were identified, and seven RCTs (total N=241) met inclusion criteria. Five RCTs were placebo controlled, and two compared quetiapine against clozapine. The mean study duration was 12 weeks, and the mean daily quetiapine dose was 103 mg per day (range, 12.5–300 mg). In four of five placebo-controlled RCTs, quetiapine failed to demonstrate significant improvement of psychosis in parkinsonism compared with placebo. In two clozapine-comparator RCTs, quetiapine was better tolerated but no more effective than clozapine. Across all RCTs, the mean completion rates for quetiapine, clozapine, and placebo were 66%, 68.5%, and 66%, respectively. Quetiapine did not significantly worsen motor function. Conclusions: The efficacy of quetiapine in RCTs for psychosis in parkinsonism is no better than that for placebo or clozapine. On the basis of novel data, clinicians should reevaluate traditional viewpoints on the benefits of quetiapine for psychosis in parkinsonism

Cloud-based robots and intelligent space teleoperation tools

    Get PDF
Despite an idea of robotic system teleoperation is a relatively old concept, here we present its enhancements heading to an interconnection of teleoperation and collecting relevant information from the environment where robots act. This environment should be an intelligent space featured with various devices and sensors, which allows to obtain, preprocess and stores data in the cloud. Those data should provide relevant information for teleoperator or directly for robots, which act autonomously. For this purpose, we developed cloud-based tools, named Telescope v2. It is a platform-independent system for remote monitoring and controlling various systems. In this paper, we introduce this system, its abilities, and compare it with its network-based ancestor, Telescope v1. We analyze measurements of latency and response time when our new system is used for teleoperation in different places equipped with various Internet bandwidths

Room-Temperature Plasma-Assisted Inkjet Printing of Highly Conductive Silver on Paper

    Get PDF
For the first time, the plasma-assisted inkjet printing of metal-organic decomposition (MOD) inks is demonstrated to provide an easily up-scalable method toward the deposition of highly conductive silver features on paper. Atmospheric plasma sintering methods provide a fast and effective alternative to thermal treatment. This high-speed, room-temperature approach ensures the immediate conversion of the MOD inks after printing and thus overcomes wetting issues typically encountered in porous substrates—a mechanical solution to a chemical problem

INTRODUCTION: Malaria and soil-transmitted helminth (STH) co-infection is an important parasitic infection affecting populations in co-endemic countries including Equatorial Guinea. To date, the health impact of STH and malaria co-infection is inconclusive. The current study aimed to report the malaria and STH infection epidemiology in the continental region of Equatorial Guinea. METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional study between October 2020 and January 2021 in the Bata district of Equatorial Guinea. Participants aged 1-9 years, 10-17 years and above 18 were recruited. Fresh venous blood was collected for malaria testing via mRDTs and light microscopy. Stool specimens were collected, and the Kato-Katz technique was used to detect the presence of Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, hookworm spp. and intestinal Schistosoma eggs. RESULTS: A total of 402 participants were included in this study. An amount of 44.3% of them lived in urban areas, and only 51.9% of them reported having bed nets. Malaria infections were detected in 34.8% of the participants, while 50% of malaria infections were reported in children aged 10-17 years. Females had a lower prevalence of malaria (28.8%) compared with males (41.7%). Children of 1-9 years carried more gametocytes compared with other age groups. An amount of 49.3% of the participants infected with T. trichiura had malaria parasites compared with those infected with A. lumbricoides (39.6%) or both (46.8%). CONCLUSIONS: The overlapping problem of STH and malaria is neglected in Bata. The current study forces the government and other stakeholders involved in the fight against malaria and STH to consider a combined control program strategy for both parasitic infections in Equatorial Guinea
